Good fun yesterday, entertaining the Christmas shoppers in Truro and collecting for Cornwall Hospice Care.

Last night we entertained the lovely residents of the care home with songs and stories to great appreciation.

Not one of our better gigs yesterday. A huge barn like restaurant with zero acoustics not condusive to singing a capella even with amps. Still we one little lass happy singing “Happy Birthday” to yound Faith aged 11.

Last night we came first in class and were awarded the Alan Leather Associates Cup.Some lovely comments from the adjudicator. Pity not more people of St Austell supported this event as there was some lovely singing.

Yesterday we entertained a pretty packed Christmas Market held at Penrice School, Snozzle and made £32.80 towards “Eric’s” brain tumour charity.

How lucky are we ? Amongst all the appalling weather we,ve had recently, the 2 Saturdays we,ve sung in Truro have both been dry with plenty of shoppers about donating generously to Cornwall Hospice Care.

Last night we supported Cornwall Hospice Care at their Light Up a Life event at the Bowgie Inn, Crantock.

Luckily we picked one of the few days it hasn’t rained recently and a lovely afternoon was had. Home made tea and cakes, beautiful surroundings, good music, all in a good cause, Macmillan Nurses.

Phew, it was a scorcher, a change from last year (it rained). Brought out the visitors in their hundreds and we enjoyed singing to enthusiastic audiences.

And the sun shone ! Sandwiched between two miserable days the sun shone brightly on Lostwithiel for Lostfest 2017. The town was packed with visitors and we had a great time singing to enthusiastic audiences.

John was very appreciative as we turned up as a surprise to help celebrate his 60th birthday, held at Porthpean Golf Club. Lovely food, quality singing, a great night was had by all.

A minutes silence was observed last night before our concert, in memory of Margaret, beloved wife of one of our members, Mike Chenoweyh, who passed away recently. Otherwise a lovely evening was had entertaining a small but enthusiastic audience.

A nice letter of thanks from Cornwall Hospice Care for the £181.69 we raised by singing in Truro on two Christmas Saturdays and a donation from Abbeyfields when we sang there.

Entertained the Christmas shoppers by singing on Lemon Quay. Last time we raised £92 on a dull drizzly day, surely we could do better today for Cornwall Hospice Care.

We had a lovely evening yesterday entertaining the good folk at Abbeyfields Home. The first mince pies and sherry of the year were seen at half time.

Tasked with entertaining the Christmas shoppers on Truro’s Boscowan St. We did our best but on a cold drizzly day don,t think too many people were in Christmas mood.

Though Richard is doing a terrific job he wishes to remind everyone that he only stepped into the breech temporarily and that we still need a pemanent MD.

Another lovely audience showed their appreciation and being proper Cornish folk we had a proper Cornish supper, pasty, saffron buns and clotted cream splits. Proper job !

We had a delightful evening yesterday, entertaining the good folk at Abbeyfields House. They were a lovely, appreciative audience joining in whenever they could. They even nourished us with sherry and mince pies !

We entertained 200+ people who are all volunteers to keep the essential Cornwall Air Ambulance in the air. This was there annual “thank you” party and a good spread was laid for them plus entertainment. All in a good cause.

We had a terrific day, singing in St Mawes. The sun shone and brought the crowds out who seemed to love our singing judging by the thunderous applause we received.

A fellow Barbershopper, Andy, member of Ouse Valley Chorus (Huntingdon) and down here on holiday and fancying a sing joined us on our practice night. Anyone else out there in similar circumstances would be very welcome.

What a great time we had. The sun shone, lots of people to entertain, all having a good time.

Finally got together with WAGS and old friends to have a much delayed annual dinner at The Dolphin Inn, Probus. Thanks to the organisational skills of Terry, much appreciated by all.

Over £2000 was raised last night at The Polgooth Inn by 12 guys having their moustaches shaved off in aid of the Movember charity, appropriately accompanied by the aptly named , yours truly “Barbershop” chorus. Well done chaps.

What a terrific concert we had last night, singing on form, in a place with good acoustics. We had resounding applause from the audience, particularly for “When I,m 64” and “Sweet Adeline”.

The recording we did at Lobb’s Farm shop was played yesterday on Tiffany Truscott’s afternoon show on Radio Cornwall. Everyone came across very well I thought. Great publicity as they mentioned this web site. Pity they cut the music short … Continue reading

A get together was held at Richard and Ruth’s house on the 20/07/11. WAGS and select fans were invited, food and drink consumed and a good time had by all.
